And So it Begins...
Hello Readers,
Cippy here! I’m here to break down the reality of what it’s like to be a student – and a student athlete. My school in New Hampshire is a great place to be a student athlete – and it has given me the opportunity to become a better person! As a coach and a past catcher for the baseball team, I know all the in’s and out’s of what life is like as a student athlete. Twice a month, this blog will cover topics like study habits, workouts, games, and all the things that make up a student athlete. By the way, did I say STUDENT ATHLETE enough? I look forward to hearing your comments and if you ever have a topic you’d want me to discuss, I’m all ears!
The main focus for my first blog is time management and what it means to a STUDENT ATHLETE!!! Playing for a Division 3 program has been one of the best times of my life, but it came with a lot of hard work and time. Going into college I knew that I would have to manage my time wisely. I was lucky though, I had a brother who played for a Big East Division 1 program, so I knew that there is a huge time commitment to the sport. From 5 a.m. lifting, to all day practice in the fall, I knew I would have to stay on top of my work so I wouldn’t get behind. I made sure to get to know my teachers – and if you are planning to be a student athlete, I can’t recommend doing this enough. Knowing your professors is HUGE. From emailing, to a quick phone call, you should always have them know that your there to do well - not only on the field but in the classroom. I know it might not be the “COOL Thing”, but make sure to get (and stay) organized and use study sources. Studying in the dorm didn’t work for me. I always study at the library where I have my own secret spot! I always bring my iPod and get more work done in one hour then most other kids get done in a week! Also, invest in a high quality alarm clock and remember to set it away from your bed - so you have to get up and shut it off! Also always be early! If youre on time, you’re late!
I hope these tips have helped out a bunch….what tips do you have? Check out these study tips! I’ll be blogging sooner than you know it, ‘til then, be safe and have fun…Cippy OUT!
