Do You Have a Job This Summer?

(written by Val, College Counselor at the Center for College Planning)

If you are one of the millions of teenagers who will be working over this summer vacation, do you have a plan on how to save and spend your summer earnings?  At TheMint.org  they offer great tips on managing your hard-earned money.  We really liked the 5 Step Save/Spend Plan  because it offers tips everyone can use.  I like the idea of keeping a “money diary” to see where I spend my money – is it on clothes, trips to the movies, or buying tunes for my iPod?

How do you decide how to save and spend your money?  Who has taught you about saving and spending money?

Off to write in my money diary,
Val

I guess my parents taught me about money - and how to save and spend it. I don't have a summer job right now, but will make a little money babysitting. I am going to volunteer at an animal rescue shelter if I can't find a job. It will give me something to do!
