Finishing Our College Process Strong!
Hey Everyone!
It has been awhile since my last blog about my college search. I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear back from my four schools on a financial aid award letter.
Within the last couple weeks, I have gotten accepted into my last school, and have received my financial aid letter from that school as well. I have also started planning on attending two of my colleges Accepted Students days this April. I’m looking forward to this; it’s going to be a time to really get a feel for the campus and what the environment will actually be like. I know it is going to be different than any college tour. You’re going to be treated as a student that is attending the college or university. If any of the schools you have been accepted to offers this type of day, (which the majority do) I most definitely recommend that you attend them. For me, it is going to be a great experience, especially for when I go to my top-choice school. It will be my third time on that campus, and I already feel like I’m part of the school and know where I am, and how to get around.
As these college acceptances and financial aid award letters start to come in, you might feel as though you are done with preparing for college. In reality, now is the time we all have to get started on looking for scholarships. There are tons of scholarships with deadlines coming up in the next 4 to 6 weeks. I have to admit - I have been on the lazy side of things lately. I’ll grab scholarships, look at them, but never work on them in time to meet the deadline. So my goal this week is to get a couple of scholarship applications out and get them out of the way.
We all just have to keep in mind that the end is in sight – so keep motivated to end your senior year strong, enjoy your last 50 days of high school (well, for me it’s 50 days!), prepare for college and look ahead to next Fall!
Running off to finish a scholarship application now,
Lauryn

Hi Lauryn-
Thank you so much for your insight about the college process. It's great to hear about what other students are doing in the state as well. Like you, I have got into a couple of schools and have started to receive my financial aid packages back. Thanks for the advice on looking for scholarships I will start working on those. Keep up the great work, awesome job on the blog.

Congratulations. My daughter has been accepted at 2 schools and wait listed at 2. She is still waiting to hear from her top choice. It is certainly a tense time for high school seniors.
