Lauryn Takes Some Tours
Last week, I went and visited a college (let’s call it College A) in an urban setting in Boston with my junior class from high school. I was very excited to go, because it offered me the chance to compare the school with another school that I had visited in a more suburban atmosphere (let’s call this one College B ). Even though these schools are no more than 25 miles apart, there were some major differences that I could easily see.
College A is a large, NCAA Division I school. It was very nice and has a lot to offer. The only thing was that, when I was walking around the campus it felt like I was walking around the city of Boston; I never felt like I was on a campus. Buildings were like skyscrapers, everywhere people were walking and crossing busy roads in a hurry. Not to mention, finding your way around was confusing. It just wasn't for me. After the brief tour I felt like I had missed a lot and that I could have seen more, but I think that is what you have to expect when visiting a school of that size.
College B gave me a completely different feeling. What I liked about this campus was that it was in a great location and I felt like I was actually on a campus. It was an enclosed area where you could just walk around and feel safe. There were trees, grass, people weren't scurrying around; it was very nice. The campus here felt larger, but we were still able to see everything on our tour.
Have you visited any college campuses lately? What did you think about them? What do you look for in a college? I would love to hear your feedback on any recent visits - or suggestions of what you look for in a college campus visit!
Keep touring,
Lauryn
